19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt since spring of that year.

Success also indicates he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to win a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

His retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved serving game.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

He rescued four early opportunities in a tight third set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
